This is a contemplative still life exploring light as it bends and reflects through glass. The marbles in the composition remind me of my daughter's childhood, she used to call them her treasures. Now she is all grown up and doesn't play with these anymore but I have tried to capture the memories through the painting.
In this work, transparent surfaces, marbles and the surrounding fabric create subtle distortions and reflections- an effect that is particularly challenging to achieve in watercolor.
